Metro operating hours:
The Lisbon metro runs daily from 6:30 AM to 1:00 AM.

Number of metro lines:
Lisbon has 4 main metro lines:

  • Blue Line (Azul): Reboleira ↔ Santa Apolónia.

  • Yellow Line (Amarela): Odivelas ↔ Rato.

  • Green Line (Verde): Telheiras ↔ Cais do Sodré.

  • Red Line (Vermelha): Airport ↔ São Sebastião.

Key metro stops:

  • Lisbon Airport: Red Line – “Aeroporto” station.

  • Baixa/Chiado (historic center & shopping): Green or Blue Line – “Baixa-Chiado” station.

  • Parque das Nações (Oceanarium & Altice Arena): Red Line – “Oriente” station.

  • Cais do Sodré (train & ferry connections): Green Line – “Cais do Sodré” station.


AIRPORT TRANSFER

Airport ↔ City center (Metro – Red Line):

  • Travel time: about 20–25 minutes to “Alameda” (connections to other lines).

  • To “Baixa-Chiado”: about 30 minutes.

Airport ↔ City center (Carris city buses):

  • Several lines connect the airport with different areas of Lisbon.

  • Average travel time: 30–40 minutes, depending on traffic.


Suburban trains:

  • From Cais do Sodré: to Cascais (coastal area and beaches).

  • From Rossio: to Sintra (UNESCO heritage site).

  • From Oriente or Santa Apolónia: to Porto or Algarve (other regions of Portugal).

City buses and trams (Carris):

  • Cover the whole city, including the famous Tram 28, which passes through the most scenic neighborhoods.

  • Reduced service at night, except for special night bus routes (“rede da madrugada”).

Estimated travel times:

  • Airport → Baixa-Chiado (metro): ~30 minutes.

  • Airport → Cais do Sodré (Aerobus): ~35 minutes.

  • Baixa → Belém (tram 15 or Carris bus): ~25 minutes.

  • Cais do Sodré → Cascais (suburban train): ~40 minutes.
